My life is my message β Ghandi
In November 2022, I left L.A after merely a decade and found a new home in Santa Barbara where I will produces some of my most liberating, raw, and ancestral work I had ever done. From creating skull sculptures, to casting my body and developing film in my bathroom, this chapter lead me to feel the bones beneath my feet. In these photographs, my whole body and spirit get to scream and cry, breathe and wonder. I want to thank all the photographers who have photographed me in each of these photo journeys!
Esoteric and enchanting with cats eating rats the size of cats, Echo Park was my divine ghetto. Here I initiated my self-portrait series in a field of mushrooms overlooking Downtown L.A. On a roof, I sat every morning contemplating the landscapes, journaling on psychedelics and reading Joseph Campbell. Subjected to a city heavy with mind control, I stirred ancient myths and drew new ones of my ownβ¦
For all my shoots, I draw from my own life experiences and create stories to photograph. I usually start by drawing a feeling, a scene, some symbols or words, then I scout for locations. During that process, everything flows and generally finds me very quickly; spirits, costumes, props, the right person to shoot it with, all is born effortlessly. If something is missing, I would use the props I already have and paint over them, craft my own dresses out of long fabrics, make accessories from what I may find on the beach and paint on my face.
When itβs time to shoot, I plan according to planetary events, animal & insect spirits guiding me and my best ally, the Sun.
